Hello pals, it is me, your ADHD Squirrelfriend, here to tell you three things:
First thing: I have been on ADHD meds for a month and a half, and with the exception of the first disastrous day and the recent bumpy adjustment to a generic version of the prescribed medication, it’s been a nice return to the world of being able keep several thoughts in my head at once. (The aforementioned bumpy adjustment can be summed up like this: brand name is like having five tabs open in my brain’s browser, and the generic is like having three. Either way, it’s a better deal than the half a thought/eternal loading symbol of life without stimulants, so I’m not complaining!) Anyway, this means I have read many more books that I would like to half-ass review for you all (this includes audiobooks, because audiobooks absolutely count as reading), plus given myself over Yet Another Goddamn Art And/Or Craft: This Time It’s Resin, AND I’ve been participating in this year’s Garftober! So I’ve had different time myopia occurring than my usual: this one because I’m actually doing things. It’s wild. I like being productive, even though it’s not really productive by the world’s (capitalist) standards. I’m just making art, or little dishes, in colors that make me happy, and dang it, that’s enough for me.
Second thing: “Garftober?” Yeah, it’s Garfield + October! @BigGarfFan37 on Twitter created a list of prompts and anyone who wants to make art is free to join in. It’s been a great way to shake some of the rust off art-wise. It’s hard to stay consistent when your brain is a magpie’s nest, so I haven’t made a lot of art in the last couple of years, but I’m doing my best with this and as of today have managed to create something new every single day. You can see the fruits of my Garftober efforts here (it is also listed in the menu at the top of the page as “Garfolio”).
Third thing: I’ve decided I want to keep the art ball rolling and have devised an art challenge of my own for November: a tarot drawing challenge! Here’s the flyer I made for it (Canva: where graphic design is everyone’s passion) if you happen to be an artist-into-tarot who just found my little clutter pile here:

I’ve limited my things to talk about to three so I don’t overthink this and never send it out, which is what happened to my last entry that never materialized. Next time: some ADHD Book Club catch-up, my new favorite scholar, and my thoughts about what tarot is and isn’t, because it turns out a lot of people think that tarot is “fortune telling” and that the Death card is literal, and I might be a novice but I want to dispel the notions that keep people from seeing the potential in tarot as a tool of self-discovery and learning about themselves, others, and the world. So stay tuned, and I’ll try not to ignore the notes on my calendar to “update the website, dang it.”
Til next time, adios, buds. Be excellent to each other ♥️
P.S.: I will give these folks a bit more attention also in the next update, but if you haven’t listened to Mega Infinity yet, pleeeaaaaase do yourself a favor and go check out their new EP, Chaos Magick. It’s on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp, and it is such good music. Chaos Magick is bright, punchy, positive, and upbeat—it feels like a perfect summer day. Dude Poisoning, featuring a guest verse by Common Sense Kid, is tight, righteously angry, and shreds. My favorite line is “My pronouns are they and she/but I’m more of a man than he’ll ever be.” Look Alive is a beautiful song with a sad sound and lyrics to match, and to me it feels like the other side of the sunny Chaos Magick sound—if you want a narrative, try listening in the order of Look Alive, Dude Poisoning, and then Chaos Magick. It tells a story of despair and triumph. And I love a good ‘90s cover so if you’re a fan of Alanis Morisette, try Skalanis! Okay, enough of my postscripts and managing to get another thing in here. Goodnight!
